A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center.

When picking a host you need to make sure you get one which uses C-Panel and it’s best to get your own Web Host Manager for each website you want to host.

Some hosts are better value if you want to host lots of sites. We use gogv.com which is used by lots of internet marketers. It cost around $20 a month for unlimited sites. Blue Host will cost about $7 a month for 1 site and that includes the cost of buying your domain name (usually $10 as a one off payment initially and then renewed annually)

We also have a unique IP address for our membersip sites because that gives them greater security and this costs an extra $10 per site per year.

When picking your domain names, selecting the correct one can be critical. It is a key to establishing your brand identity and searchability.
Be ready to buy domain names that fit your strategy because once internet real estate is gone, it’s gone! For the cost (you should expect to pay around $10 for a .com) then it is worth buying them and holding on to them until you are ready.
Buying Domain Names Is The One Area Where You Do Not Want To Be Conservative

1. Use everyday words which people recognise quickly. You get no points for being clever. Avoid ambiguous spellings and if you operate internationally then consider if words are spelt differently in other countries and think about buying the alternative spelling.

2. Consider including a call to action or a verb; e.g., save, build, grow, cut, secure, etc, for example – www.buildanonlinebusiness.com.

3. Write it out on paper and also on a screen so you can check the letter combination doesn’t produce strange or incomprehensible results, eg. www.gooutinstyle.com.

4. Consider how you will be telling people your Domain Name. Will you need to tell them over the phone or a radio advert and so will you have to keep on explaining it? Eg. www.going4gold.com where you have repeatedly have to explain it’s the number 4 and not the letters. You should also consider buying the other version. www.goingfourgold.com and redirecting in case people get it wrong first time.

5. Who is your audience and do they have special needs?

6. What about misspellings – could your Domain Name easily be misspelt, and if so you should consider buying the misspellings and redirecting.

7. Does the domain name need to mean anything to anyone? If your Domain Name is always accompanied by a great long explanation of the services you offer, or on a business card you hand out, then great. However, if not then why would anyone bother visiting www.JSServices.com? If the domain name will appear or be advertised in isolation of backgound explanation then you should consider a domain name which tells readers what it means or who should visit it. A good example is www.cheapcheapdomainnames.com. One of ours is www.leavingthearmyuk.com.

8. You may need more than one domain name or URL. Your company, branding or membership site could be www.joebloggsservices.co.uk, or www.members.smartmarketingwarriors.com. Generally this sort of site is used to direct visitors to where they can find out about your services or get information. Often the domain name relates to your company but doesn’t directly explain what you offer. You may need a separate domain name for your landing page where you capture their details, such as www.speedyunblockeddrains.com, and you could start a relationship building blog with www.joebloggs.com or you could invent a personality such as www.drainsurgeon.com. If you have a product or service which you can sell directly, then you might also want to have a sales page such as www.BuyDrainRodsNow.com

9. If your online presence is about developing a relationship with your audience then do buy your own name, such as, www.brucebird.com. If has already been registered then you could add to it as in www.sianmurphycopywriter.com.

10. Think about if you will be using punctuation such has hyphens, and be aware that there are differing opinions about if this is a good or bad practice. It is often used when the Domain Name you really want is already registered as in www.kleeneze-recruitment.co.uk. The main consideration should still be ‘is it simple to remember and use, and does it explain what it is all about’?

11. If you are buying a Domain Name to market a product or service (as in affiliate marketing) then ideally you should understand the product and the potential buyer. Whilst there are many buying triggers, pain and problem solving are key, and it is sensible to understand what these are for your potential buyer and to incorporate this aspect into your domain if possible and appropriate.

12. Keyword analysis can be useful to help you pick words and word combinations people are searching for right now. However, you should remember that trends change and so this could be a tricky approach to rely on for a long term venture.

As always, the most important thing is to GET IT DONE and GET IT OUT THERE

Nothing works when it’s still in the box whilst you fret over the instructions.

Articles are a great way to put your links into affluence and they can have real power when it comes to traffic generation.

Article Submission Sites – people want free content for their site which has good quality information. Article submission sites collate the articles and make them available to web site owners looking for free content. That’s it really. As long as your article provides readers with useful information and are not for the purpose of selling, sites will accept them for publication. In turn, they will then make those articles available for anyone else browsing their article sites. This is free exposure for you, in a viral market manner. The link back to you and what you’re offering goes in the resource box not the article.

Ezine publishers are also very interested in good quality information to provide to their subscribers. If you have a well-written article and they choose it, this results in more free exposure for you because at the end of every article is your resource information that contains the key to the success of articles and getting your name out there – your website link back to you.

You can write your own articles or outsource using sites like www.elance.com or www.guru.com and have someone write them for you. Another alternative is to buy PLR (Private Label Rights) articles in which they are pre-written and you can put your name on it. I would recommend changing stuff and at least putting it in your own voice before you send them out, because if you have them, so do others.

After you have written an informative article, you can place them on article directories all over the internet, free. If you want to maximize the results you can purchase products such as Article Submitter Pro which allows you to set up once with all of the article locations you want, and then with each new article, it is a much simpler process of submitting. With 10 articles out there, you can see how this could start to mushroom with many sites and ezines looking for viable content.
Another little tip is to change the article a bit and add it to your Blog. This creates activity at your blog, and another link opportunity back to your website which should be a landing page.

With very little effort, you can have thousands, and thousands of back links which continue to grow.

Soon, you will be getting targeted traffic from visitors who have read your article, found information about you in the resource box, and clicked on your web site link that was there. It doesn’t take long for the famed “viral effect” of marketing to take place, and you’ve got the traffic you have been waiting for.

If you don’t want to invest in a product that will submit for you (and you have tons of time), there is a site that lists over 60 of them.
www.trinityjacobs.com/article-submission-sites.html

If you only have a few minutes, submit to these two sites:

www.ezinearticles.com

www.articlecity.com

You can also type www.google.com

And enter “your niche articles” and you can get access to sites that deal specifically with your niche.

Firstly – what is a resource box?

It’s the author bio you see at the end of an article (and sometimes after a forum entry) which tells you a bit about the author. Plus it often has a link to a landing or sales page or the authors blog.

It’s important because articles which are submitted to article sites usually can’t have links to the authors online pages in the main body of the article. If you don’t put these details correctly into the resource box then all of your hard work is wasted because the only purpose behind writing and distributing an article is to get readers back to your site.

The HTML resource box also has SEO qualities – as long as you use it correctly. If you don’t, then it could work against you.

So what are the main differences between an HTML resource box and a plain old text one. The HTML Box is the one you use when you have keywords for your article.

The text resource box will automatically create a clickable link when you enter your fully qualified URL. A fully qualified URL has ‘http’ at the beginning, for example: http://www.leavingthearmedforces.com/

The only type of link that can be created in the text resource box is a text link–a link of your fully qualified URL.

The HTML resource box, on the other hand, allows you to hyperlink keywords of your choice. These words are called “anchor text”.

SO?

There is belief in the SEO world that words that are hyperlinked attract special attention from Google. So, if you have keywords that you are targeting in your article marketing campaign, it can help Google to associate those keywords with your website if the link leading to your site contains those words.

But hang on – before you go running off to get started there are a few things you really must know:

HTML Resource Box Tip 1: Vary Your Keywords

It’s important to mention that if you’re using keyword linking from the HTML resource box, you should not focus on the same keyword phrase each time. Instead, vary the key phrases you use a lot within the niche.

If you use the same key phrase each time, then it can appear manipulative in Google’s eyes. Not good!

But, if you vary the keywords you use as anchor text in your HTML resource box, it helps Google get a good idea what your site is about by linking in semantically related key phrases.

HTML Resource Box Tips: Write A Real Author Bio

You need to put a real author bio in the resource box, and include your keyword phrases but remember to write it for a real person to be reading it – because they will be. Your bio should include your name, a little bit about yourself and your business; a reason for them to click through to your website; a call to action – a direction telling the reader to click through as well as the link to your site.

In addition to hyperlinking your keyphrase, you can also hyperlink your written out URL. With the HTML resource box any links need to be created deliberately (they are not created automatically like in the text resource box). If you would like to also hyperlink your URL, then you would go through the same steps that you used in hyperlinking your anchor text.

It’s important that you pick article submission software or services which allow you to have more than one resource box so that you can easily use a variety of keyword phrases easily and flexibly.

A common question by newbies setting out into internet marketing, especially when they already have a website which has been set up to promote their existing business is – why do I need other sites – why can’t I just sell my stuff from my corporate site? The reason – it doesn’t work. Sales direct from a corporate site are almost non-existent, mainly because people look, get distracted, and leave.

We need to take them through a process that keeps their attention directly focused on you and your product.

We have 5 seconds to grab their attention – which you do with the Landing Page

The Landing Page is how you capture your visitor so that you can build a relationship with your prospect and up-sell to an unlimited degree. Very few companies and small businesses have a landing page and yet it’s arguably the most important page you can have.

Another 5 seconds to get them to give up their email and name – Landing page opt – in offer

Then you can breathe.

You have about 10 minutes to sell them from the sales page – where many don’t buy – but you don’t need to worry – because we have their name and email address.

This is how you sell them, through sales driven autoresponder/email campaigns that once you set up – do all the work for you.

The Sales Page or letter is one page, often a long site that highlights the benefits of one product or service. Not many companies have this sort of site and yet it’s mainly how you get the sale.

Your Blog is a diary or journal and it’s an active site which keeps everyone up to date with what you are doing, industry and product developments. You post articles and keep in touch with prospects and customers. The blog is how you build your relationship and get a google presence for free.

The corporate or brochure site is the one stop shop of what you have. And they’re great but 99.99% of visitors are going there for information.

The examples I’ve used below to illustrate the main types of website you should have all belong to Tracy Repchuk who tested this out by putting a $5 product on her corporate site, and it didn’t sell, but flew out the door at 10 times the price in the proper landing page to sales page formula.

So, you need to be thinking mainly about these 4 pages:

1. Landing page
2. Blog
3. Sales Page
4. Membership site (if you’re heading that way)

And then you have your branding or corporate site.

An example for you of each of the types of pages Tracy’s are:

1. Landing page – http://www.marketing-makeover-miracles.com

2. Blog – www.tracyrepchuk.com

3. Sales Page - www.entrepreneurinoverdrive.com

4. Membership Site – http://www.InternetSuccessUniversity.com (landing page but it leads to the membership concept)

5. Personal Branding Site – http://www.marketingmakeovermaestro.com

Remember, it’s easy to get distracted with designing logo’s, headers and corporate sites. You can get distracted to the tune of thousands if you pay someone to build it for you. But only sites 1-4 make you any money. So let this help you decide where you will place your efforts first.

Enjoy the journey.

Following on from Tracy L’s question about blogs and articles I thought you might find the following list of article directories useful. Now there are hundreds, possibly thousands of article directories out there and I don’t profess to have done a thorough review of them all.

Because I submit articles to generate traffic for my own clients – I use an online article submission service – submityourarticle which is paid for by a monthly subscription and submits articles to about 200 directories at a pop. Note the difference between an article submitter which sends out the articles for you and article submission software which is a programme you download onto your computer and use yourself and it helps you fill in the fields when you go to each article directory site to post your article.

But you can start off submitting the articles yourself although going to 200 is going to be a bit of a chore. So, I’ve picked out those article directory sites which insist you have an account and proper log in detail – instead of accepting everything that’s flung at them. There is generally also a human review process for each article. This means that your article will be sat alongside other quality articles and not any old crap. For Ezine articles you can also get expert author status with a little motif to put on your website – nice, but the real benefit is that it lets you know you’re on the right track and producing quality stuff.

Here’s the list of the fussier ones…

articlealley.com
articlesbase.com
ezinearticles.com
goarticles.com
ideasmarketers.com
searchwarp.com

Happy Writing
